It Started With a Fishing Trip

TrekFinds was born from a real-world problem.

As a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, I've always enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, road trips, and exploring the outdoors. A few years ago, I joined some friends on an ocean fishing trip expecting my existing gear to perform just fine. It didn't.

The conditions were tougher, the fish were bigger, and it became obvious that my equipment wasn't designed for serious offshore fishing. When I got home, I decided it was time to upgrade.

What I thought would be a simple shopping process quickly became frustrating.

Gear recommendations were scattered across hundreds of websites, YouTube channels, blogs, forums, and social media groups. One expert recommended one product, another recommended something completely different. The more research I did, the more confused I became.

Finding the best prices wasn't any easier. I found myself opening dozens of merchant websites, comparing specifications, checking reviews, hunting for discounts, and trying to determine whether a deal was actually a good deal.

At some point I asked myself a simple question:

Why isn't there a single place that combines trustworthy gear advice and the best deals from outdoor retailers?

Surprisingly, I couldn't find one.

That's when the idea for TrekFinds was born.

Meet the Founder

Hassan's love for the outdoors began long before TrekFinds was created.

Raised on the Mediterranean coast in a family that loved fishing, Hassan developed a passion for fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventure at an early age. His father introduced him to many of the outdoor traditions that would later become lifelong passions.

As a young boy, Hassan joined the Boy Scouts, where he learned camping, hiking, outdoor survival skills, leadership, and respect for nature. The values of Scouting continue to influence TrekFinds today, especially the "Leave No Trace" philosophy championed by Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting.

One of his favorite Scouting quotes remains:

"On breaking up camp, leave two things behind you:

1. Nothing.
2. Your thanks."

Today, Hassan is based in Sacramento, California, where he continues to pursue his passion for the outdoors. He regularly fishes the American River, Sacramento River, Feather River, and the Pacific Ocean, including the waters near the Golden Gate and Santa Cruz.

With more than 40 years of outdoor experience spanning fishing, camping, hiking, scouting, and outdoor recreation, Hassan created TrekFinds to help outdoor enthusiasts make better gear decisions while finding the best deals available.
